Empowering classroom academics, creative expression in art and music, and transformative Chapel and Faith Family experiences undergird the engaging Primary Division classrooms. The typical schedule for kindergarten through second-grade students provides a balanced and enriching experience, including two daily enrichment classes.  Mastery levels are reported for Kinder through second grade.

Most self-contained classrooms have 15-18 students whose instructors focus their learning on reading comprehension and mathematics, with a rich complement of science, humanities, and language. While literacy and numeracy are the principal focus areas, the hands-on experiential and project-based opportunities in the social and life sciences are intertwined through signature "capstone-type" projects and Field Lessons, which deepen critical thinking skills.

The following "specials," which foster various individual growth opportunities and enable socialization and collaboration–French, Library, Art, Music, PE, and Swimming. Art, music, swimming, and PE–may sometimes combine by gender across two grade levels to meet children's preferences for single-sex activities. K-2 students have recess and lunch together, but third-grade children–as they prepare for the next grade level academically and socially–eat and play with fourth and fifth graders.

Quarterly grade updates are provided via standards-based report cards. Parent-teacher conferences provide in-person or remote updates midway through the first and third quarters, in September and February.
